FAQ
Q. How often should I use the Podule materials?
A. You can use materials as often as you like. Repetition is the key to retention. A child loves repetition and repeating any one activity helps them learn faster and gives them more confidence. They consolidate theory and learning when given the chance to repeat songs, lessons and activities.
Q. Can I use these materials with older children?
A. We have found the Polkadots songs, dances , storybooks and activities are all appealing to older children. Older siblings are able to learn songs and dances and support the learning of their younger brothers and sisters. Activities can be done as school holidays excursions. Learning can literally be a family experience.
Q. How long should lessons go for?
A. Lessons are divided into a number of activities and can be used according to your child's ability to concentrate. A 4 year old should be able to do the complete lesson plan in under an hour as they are learning to sit longer and complete tasks. A two year old is developing their concentration and so 15-20 minute segments can be done throughout the day. Remember - keep the activities turning over and keep going as long as they are interested!
Q. What if they aren't interested?
A. If a child is not interested or is fussy, look at the time of day you are trying to teach them. Are they hungry or tired? Look at what is happening around them that may be a distraction. Adjust your approach or time of engagement accordingly. Often, just giving them a special responsibility in the lesson will focus their attention.
